How the interview would have gone!

Moderator:  Rob what do you see as your strongest trait qualifying for Mayor?
Rob Pero:  I love New London, I really think I should be the mayor.
Moderator:  Rob do you think that is enough?
Rob Pero:  Why not!
Moderator: Rob on the blog spot I read something about your building success using OPM.  Can you explain to all the voters just what OPM is? I have never heard of that.
Rob Pero: OPM is a concept that I developed early in my political career. OPM is Other People’s Money. It is simple, when you use other people’s money you have nothing on the line and you can put the weight on the rest of the community. This way I risk nothing. Tell me that does not make sense to you.
Moderator:  Rob you have come up with a lot of ideas on the council lately that will cost the New London taxpayers money. Do you find that to be prudent in this economy?
Rob Pero:  I am not a prude at all. I like to spend other people’s money of these ideas I come up with. I gain support and hopefully votes of the people that benefit and I have nothing at risk. It is what they call a win, win in politics. Is this your first political interview? You do not seem to understand how this all works.
Moderator:  Rob Prudent and Prude are not interchangeable terms. This is not my first political interview.
Rob Pero:  I thought that since the words had the same first 5 letters that the words had similar meaning. My bad.
Moderator:  Rob what campaigning strategy do you think works best and what will you do to win over the voters?
Rob Pero:  I have found that taking my youngest child with me in either a stroller or carrying them works best. Most voters have no idea what is going on in the city anyway. Most voters do not know who I am or what I voted for or why. Most do not know what eminent domain is or that I voted for it. These voters only know I am the guy with the baby that came to their door looking all nice and a family oriented. It is kind of like dressing up for Halloween. When they get into the voting booth they pick me more often than not.  It is the costume that they remember.  They just vote for me because of the baby thing. When the kid outgrows the stroller I may lose some votes.

Ladies and Gentlemen it seems we now have a horse race.

Mike Buscetto a long time benefactor to the New London Community has put himself in the starting gate for this race.

It will be a race between the self proclaimed King of New London and the long time benefactor of New London.

New London City Councilor Rob Pero's formal announcement to run for mayor, scheduled for 6 p.m. tonight at the Gallery at Firehouse Square, is postponed to Feb.15.

If he is elected will he be a fair weather mayor as well? This is the second cancellation!
